The Vision Behind HSIC
From the epic 2001 test series against Australia that shot him to superstardom, to lifting the World Cup in 2011 and winning the T20 Champions League with the Mumbai Indians, Harbhajan Singh has reached the pinnacle of success in every format of the game. But despite the success, Bhajji has never forgotten his roots. Growing up in Jalandhar, the future turbanator honed his skills playing gully cricket, daring to dream that one day he would don Indian colours. Through hard work and determination, Harbhajan made his cricketing dream come true. Now, he wants to give something back to the game and to the place where he grew up. That’s why he’s set up the Harbhajan Singh Institute of Cricket. In collaboration with Final Score Management, Harbhajan has opened a state of the art cricket training facility in his home town of Jalandhar. HSIC will revolutionize the way cricket is taught in smaller towns in India. Bringing in expertise and equipment that hasn’t been seen before outside international team dressing rooms. This is Harbhajan’s dream. To provide nothing but the best to young, aspiring cricketers. To groom the future of Indian cricket.
SP Krishnan | Head Coach
Mr. Krishnan is the Head Coach and Coach for mid level age group at Harbhajan Singh Institute of Cricket. Cricket and Krishnan’s association has been since childhood. He started playing cricket at the age of 9 years as a hobby. His association with cricket has been for over 40 years now during which he has played cricket and given training to some of the exemplary cricketers. Mr. Krishnan has led the Sports College Jalandhar from 1965-69. Post this, he was appointed the Manipur Cricket Coach for Imphal under Sports Authority of India from 1970-80. Mr. Krishnan has been associated with Sports College Lucknow for over 15 years. Mr. Krishnan has produced two Indian International cricketers, Suresh Raina and RP Singh namely. Prior to this, he use to run a coaching centre at Dayanand Model School in Jalandhar, where he produced around 25 national and international level cricketers, Vikram Rathore being one of them.
Ankur Sondhi | Coach
Ankur Sondhi is the coach at Harbhajan Singh Institute of Cricket from April 2012. A young and dynamic cricketer who is currently an active member of Indian Railways Cricket team. Ankur started playing cricket at the young age of 14 years when he represented his school cricket team from Jalandhar. He has also represented Jalandhar as a District level player in all age groups. Having played for Punjab, Ankur has been a part of Punjab Ranji trophy in the year 2001-02. Ankur holds to himself an exceptional experience of having played league cricket in England for 12 years. Prior to this, he has also represented North Zone and has been actively involved in cricket for over 15 years now.
Rakesh Thakur | Strength and Conditioning Coach
Rakesh Thakur is the Strength and Conditioning coach at Harbhajan Singh Institute of Cricket. A former International Gymnast is very peculiar about physical fitness and his passion about his duty reflects from his body. Rakesh, is a certified Strength and Conditioning coach. Five times consecutive gold medalist in All India Police Games, Rakesh was awarded Senior Champion from 1987 till 1992. Rakesh also bagged a silver medal in SAF games held at Dhaka – Bangladesh in 1992. Prior to his association with Harbhajan Singh Institute of Cricket, Rakesh has worked with various renowned fitness groups. He has worked as Manager with Talwarkar Fitness Centre, as Senior Trainer in Anytime Fitness Centre and again as Senior Trainer in Gold Gym. Now training at Harbhajan Singh Institute of Cricket, Rakesh Thakur has got 26 years experience in his domain.
Pankaj Chadha | Coach
Pankaj Chadha is the coach at Harbhajan Singh Institute of Cricket. Very handsomely talented, Pankaj is a Ranji player from Himachal, he has played enormous cricket at various levels. In year 1997-98, He has played from Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (H.P.C.A) in Under-19 team and was also part of North Zone playing team same year. This young performer was always an important part of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (H.P.C.A) and also played in Under-22 group in 2000-2001 and Under-25 group in 2002-2003 respectively.
